Paris Métro itinerary optimizer

Fastest Métro route with step count, accessibility status at every interchange, last-train warnings, and a special alert when your arrival time falls inside the Sunday morning closure window (most lines shut 05:30–06:00 and again for short maintenance slots on Sunday).

What this tool actually solves

RATP's planner is fast and accurate for line numbers, but it does not always tell you that the "4-minute transfer" at Châtelet-Les Halles includes a 350m underground walk with no escalator. Nor does it tell you that on Sunday morning, lines 4 and 14 close at certain stations for short maintenance, and the line 1 last train from Château de Vincennes is 13:30 on Sundays.

How to read the result

Three outputs matter. Route steps tells you the sequence of lines and stations; Walking is the total underground walk including all interchanges; Risk flags are things to watch for (lift out of service, last-train risk, line on strike). If you have mobility constraints, also check the "accessibility" column.

This is a heuristic optimizer. For the live, fully-accurate itinerary including real-time lift outages, use the RATP app or Citymapper.

Limitations

The route data is a 2026 reference. The closure windows of last-train time, the Sunday morning closure slots, and the elevator availability change week to week. For any trip where you must be somewhere at a specific time, cross-check against the RATP app the day before.

FAQ

What time does the Métro actually close?
Sunday–Thursday: last train leaves the terminus at 00:40, arrives central Paris around 01:15. Friday, Saturday and the eve of bank holidays: last train at 01:25, central arrival around 02:00. Lines 2 and 6 run with a driver-only "reduced" schedule some nights. The Métro reopens at 05:30 Monday–Saturday and 07:00 on Sundays and bank holidays.
Which interchanges are not accessible?
Châtelet-Les-Halles (lines 1, 4, 7, 11, 14) is partially accessible — line 14 platforms have lifts but the other lines require stairs. Montparnasse-Bienvenüe (lines 4, 6, 12, 13) has lifts for 4 and 13 but not 6 or 12. République (lines 3, 5, 8, 9, 11) is not wheelchair-accessible at all. For wheelchair users, the recommended interchanges are Bercy, Bibliothèque, Bastille (line 1 ↔ 5), and Concorde.
What about the no-RER-at-night rules?
The RER A and B behave like a suburban train, not like the Métro. They run from 05:00 to about 00:50 (later on weekends), but the central section's frequency drops sharply after 22:00. If you arrive late at CDG, the RER B is the cheapest option but adds 30–45 minutes vs. a taxi.
