Boulangerie opening-hours finder
French boulangeries follow a rhythm that catches tourists flat-footed: closed Sundays and/or Mondays, a 4–6 week summer fermeture, a week off in February, a «pont» weekend around long bank holidays. This tool reads the date and the city and tells you whether you'll actually find a fresh baguette.
What this tool actually solves
A boulangerie's "horaires" (opening hours) is set by the baker himself and posted on the storefront. The hours change 3–4 times per year for fermeture annuelle (annual closing), congés (long weekend), and bank-holiday weekends ("ponts").
In Paris, most boulangeries are closed Mondays. In Provence and coastal towns, the rule is often Mondays + Wednesdays. "Ouvert non-stop" means from 6:30 until 19:30 — a Paris baker never means "24 hours".
How to read the result
Three things to know: is today an open day, are we in a known closing window (summer fermeture, ponts), where's the nearest backup (supermarket bakery, 24/7 baker in Paris, etc.).
Limitations
Boulangeries do not publish a national calendar. The patterns are statistical — most follow the same rhythm, but a single shop may take an unscheduled week off in March or stay open for a local fête in July. Always have a backup plan.
