BlaBcar vs TGV vs FlixBus
A multi-modal cost / time / CO₂ comparator for any French intercity route. Plus a unique signal: at what booking window does the TGV stop being cheaper than BlaBcar?
What this tool actually solves
TGV wins on speed but the price varies 4× depending on how early you book. BlaBcar is cheaper but you have less control over timing, less luggage space and the driver's choice of departure city matters. FlixBus is the slow-and-cheap option but the carbon footprint is acceptable if the bus is half full. This tool ranks them on cost, time and CO₂.
How to read the result
Each row is one mode, with the door-to-door time (including city-to-station and station-to-city transfers), price for the chosen number of passengers and booking window, and the CO₂ estimate. The "winning option" cell summarises when each wins.
Limitations
BlaBcar prices vary by driver, vehicle and demand — published averages are ±25%. TGV INOUI fares follow dynamic pricing — what we show is the median for the chosen window, not a quote. FlixBus prices are stable but route frequency is seasonal (most daily in summer, less in winter).
